Federal Judge Saves Ignorant Oklahomans’ State Legal System

A federal judge has saved Oklahomans from their own stupidity. Those Tea Party/Red Stat/GOPers in Oklahoma who passed a state constitutional amendment by a vast majority, 70 percent said yes, banning any consideration of Sharia law or international law in deciding court cases really didn’t understand what they were doing.
The measure was challenged two days after its passage by The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) charging it not only violates the First Amendment, it also renders all international treaties invalid in the courts of the United States.
This morning (11/08/2010) U.S. District Judge Vicki Miles-LaGrange ruled in Oklahoma City following a brief hearing issued an order that prevents the state election board from certifying the results of the November 2nd general election, until a Nov. 22 hearing on the CAIR requested preliminary injunction.
Some legal experts say that the measure called State Question 755, or ‘Save Our State’ is so unclear and worded so poorly that it also bars a judge from consideration of the Ten Commandments when considering how to decide issues that are cases of the first impression’, or legal disputes where there is now law to resolve the issue at hand.
