An 18-seat cafe in a grocery store in Brooklyn, New York, has earned two Michelin stars for its cuisine.
Chef’s Table at the Brooklyn Fare grocery was honored in the new Michelin Guide New York City 2011.
Michelin Guide director Jean-Luc Naret said the eatery was one of the best 300 restaurants in the world.
The cafe, which is in its first year of operation, was praised for Mediterranean and Japanese styles, mixed with French technique.

Beer lovers have a new brew to try thanks to a Dutch brewer. Jan Nijboer is claiming to have created the world’s strongest brew. At 120 proof and called “Start the Future it goes for 45 bucks a bottle at this brewery in Almere, Holland called The Refrigerated Ship.

Ingredients: – 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 cup banana liqueur
- 4 bananas, cut in half lengthwise, then halved
- 1/4 cup dark rum
- 4 scoops vanilla ice cream
Directions:
Combine the butter, sugar, and cinnamon in a flambé pan or skillet.
Place the pan over low heat either on an alcohol burner or on top of the stove, and cook, stirring, until the sugar dissolves.

2 oz Johnnie Walker Scotch whisky
2 oz Jim Beam bourbon whiskey
2 oz Bailey’s Irish cream
2 oz Midori melon liqueur
2 oz premium lager
2 oz Jagermeister herbal liqueur
2 oz absinthe herbal liqueur
2 oz Wild Turkey bourbon whiskey
